The school is located in the northeast of downtown in Hualien
City.
The total area of the school campus is 27,000 square meters.
During Japanese reign period, the Japan Government founded "Sunrise Japanese
Elementary School" here.
After the Retrocession of Taiwan in 1945, the National Government instituted
"Hualien City Hua Gang Mountain Cheng Gong High School" and appointed
a scholar, Mr. A-Biao Liang, as the school principal.
On February 28, 1947, the school was shut down because of the Uprising of 228
.
On October 27, 1947, Hualien County Government and Taiwan Provincial Education
Administration established "Taiwan Provincial Hualien Teachers College"
here.
In 1960, "Taiwan Provincial Hualien Teachers College" moved to today's
location at Qi Xing Lake.( No.123, Hua-Hsi Rd., Hualien , Taiwan (R.O.C.))
The Veterans Affairs Commission also held a teacher training course here.
In 1967, the school changed to a place for compulsory education.
On August 1, 1968, the school was founded officially, and it was named "Hua
Gang Junior High School".
There are 53 classes, with a total of 1,949 students, and employees
of 137 people. And there is a Department of Adult Education with 160 s
